Online Training: Basic Introduction to PreStack Pro

An interactive introduction to PreStack Pro

Wed 10 March to Thurs 11 March
8:00-12:30 (CST)

Cost: $700
Includes all AWS-cloud costs and an interactive course with live instructors.

Who should attend the course?

  • Everyone interested in getting a hands-on introduction to PreStack Pro
  • Exploration and Production Geoscientists
  • Seismic interpreters
  • Processing and QI Geophysicists

Welcome to PreStack Pro!

In this course, you will be given an introduction to the software, which will help build a solid foundation and establish your skills in PreStack Pro. By the time you’ve completed the training session, you’ll have a basic knowledge of the different ways to visualize, process, and analyze big, pre-stack seismic datasets.

Sharp Reflections’ PreStack Pro software effortlessly handles massive pre-stack datasets with unrivaled speed and interactivity, leveraging an HPC engine and complete set of intuitive geophysical tools to interactively QC, process, interpret, and analyze seismic amplitudes straight from imaged pre-stack gathers.

Join us for an interactive introductory online course, where you will be put in the driver’s seat with the keys to the Ferrari: explore the sights and endless possibilities on the PreStack Pro journey, from pre-stack data visualization to gather conditioning, on-the-fly stacking, horizon & amplitude interpretation, real-time attribute analysis techniques, well calibration, and more!

Together, we will be covering the two most widely used PreStack Pro toolboxes:

  • Processing & QC
  • Amplitude Interpretation

Our expert team will guide you through your first foray into PreStack Pro through a real-world project, providing you with a solid foundation in the basic features, while concurrently providing vital tips & tricks to optimize your efficiency.

Drive your seismic data understanding to places you never thought you could, in a single workday.

Course main takeaways:

  • Understand the benefits of utilizing pre-stack data for analysis & interpretation
  • Navigate the software
  • Visualize and synchronize your pre-stack data in real time
  • Learn the basics, including but not limited to:
    • Interpreting horizons on pre-stack gathers
    • Extracting volumetric & mapped attributes (including AVO attributes)
    • Crossplotting well logs & seismic volumes
    • Generating well synthetics from elastic well logs
    • Managing mutes & velocities
    • Exploring pre-stack data clean-up tools
  • Understand time-saving and workflow efficiency benefits of in-memory application
  • And much more!

You’ll get detailed project setup tutorials provided as appendices in the presentation material.

Program:

Wednesday 10 March 8:00-12:30 (CST)

  • Benefits of leveraging pre-stack data for analysis & interpretation
  • Introducing PreStack Pro (software overview)
  • Basic data visualization & synchronization
  • Depth-to-time conversion
  • Managing velocities & mutes

Thursday 11 March 8:00-12:30 (CST)

  • Viewing well logs & generating synthetics
  • Horizon interpretation tools (including pre-stack options!)
  • Creating volumetric & mapped attributes
  • Brief overview of gather conditioning capabilities

Hardware requirements

You don’t need a supercomputer to process the data sets. We will test your environment together beforehand – here’s what you will need:

  • An up-to-date browser (eg Chrome, Safari, Firefox) with a stable internet connection (>15Mb/s)
  • Ability to install HP Remote Graphics Software – download for free here for PC or here for MAC
  • Ability to use Zoom (or similar) video-conference application
  • A reasonable desktop/screen area (minimum 1920 x 1080), but to get the best experience we recommend two screens.
  • Ability to display or print PDF guide to follow while working.
  • Ability to view MP4-video files.
  • A microphone and speaker or headphones.
