Job Description

We are hiring a full-time experienced geophysicist to be part of our expanding Houston-based geophysical consulting services team.

We seek a technical specialist in QI and/or AVO processing who appreciates the impact of data quality on analytical results. As a Senior Geophysicist, you’ll work alongside a global team of geophysical experts, delivering exemplary technical services. You’ll team up with colleagues to develop creative and compelling service offerings that merge your experience and our software.

You are enthusiastic about working collaboratively in an integrated amplitude analysis and interpretation team and look forward to joining a global team of geophysical experts. Key Responsibilities

Reporting to the Head of Services and Training, you will deliver exemplary technical services and help fulfill our goal of being a strategic partner to our clients.

Understand client business needs and technical challenges and offer customized solutions.

$

Design and execute customized workflows for both conventional and unconventional reservoirs.

$

Manage client communications and expectations. 

$

Execute and deliver seismic reservoir characterization (SRC) service projects.

$

Collaborate closely with global clients and Sharp Reflections’ services team to scope and execute projects. Help develop and deliver expert-level workflow training for clients.

$

Monitor service quality and customer satisfaction. 

$

Develop and implement SRC workflows that build on our technology and experience. 

$

Provide expert practitioner feedback to our software development team. 

$

Build relationships with existing clients, including onsite consulting, release roadshows, regular webinars and developing trade show demo programs.

$

Stay current with industry trends and lead the implementation of advanced workflows using our Big Data platform.

Qualifications

Required:
$

Bachelor’s or higher degree in geophysics or a related field.

$

Minimum 10 years of experience as a reservoir geophysicist for an oil and gas operator or service company with strong background in quantitative interpretation (QI), amplitude interpretation, AVO processing, and/or 4D seismic.

$

Practical experience with prestack seismic data processing and quality control, amplitude interpretation (AVO, QI), attributes screening and prestack seismic inversion.

$

Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills. 

$

Willingness to travel for client meetings, presentations, and industry events.

Preferred:
$

Applied knowledge of time-lapse and/or azimuthal seismic.

$

Experience with marine, OBN, and land / unconventional datasets.

$

Ability to quickly learn and use new software. Prior exposure to Sharp Reflections software.

$

Open to flexible working hours covering meetings across multiple time zones (Western and Eastern Hemispheres – being Americas-based is preferred, but not required).
