Project and Data Management
Beginner | 2×2 hours | Online | Hands-on
This short online hands-on course introduces new users to project creation, importing and sharing data, linking to third party software, and how to check correctness. It is separate from the Flying Start course to focus only on what users as well as general data managers need to learn about this.
You learn how to set up a Sharp Reflections project with the survey definition in a SEGY or VDS file and import more seismic and velocity volumes. Next comes importing other kinds of data in various native formats, or more conveniently with our data transfer plugins. The latter make use of a shared Sharp Reflections project. Finally, you learn how to use such a shared project to share work with colleagues and to pool data and results in a regional project without data duplication.
- Create a project with a specific unit system, survey definition and coordinate reference system.
- Import offset and azimuthal gathers and a velocity volume in SEGY format.
- Import and export up to 5D volumes in OSDU VDS format.
- Load imported data into memory after possible decimation and use map and section viewers to check if data was imported correctly.
- Usage of Petrel (and DSG) data transfer plugin.
- How to create and use a shared project for data exchange and how to avoid disk volume duplication.
- Import well data in LAS format.
- How to check correctness of well data in map and well log viewers, and how to correct if necessary.
- Exploration and Production Geoscientists
- Seismic and wells data managers
- Advantages of the unique multidimensional data management
- Advances in handling 4D seismic data and seismic vintages
- Extended response modelling of 4D seismic data
- 4D time lapse QC and data conditioning
- 4D interpretation and attribute generation
We welcome users with no prior experience in the Sharp Reflections Big Data platform. General knowledge of geophysics and seismic interpretation is recommended.
- Access to stable internet (recommended at least 15Mbps)
- Two screens big enough to display a training manual, a Teams call and Sharp Reflections software at the same time.
