2024 – The year we joined CMG

As 2024 rapidly draws to a close, I want to take a moment to reflect on this incredible year and express my heartfelt gratitude. To my colleagues at Sharp Reflections, our outgoing board, our key business partners, and our fabulous customers—thank you for helping us build an exciting and impactful geophysical software company. Your support, collaboration, and dedication have been instrumental in our success.

The recent sale to the CMG group marked a significant milestone on our journey, transitioning us from a start-up to an established business. This achievement is a validation of our team’s hard work, grit, and determination over the past decade.

On a personal note, 2024 has felt a lot like 1979 for me, the year I left home for college. Like Sharp Reflections, I was just a teenager, full of ambition and ready to take on new challenges. Back then, I didn’t know exactly what to expect, but I understood that success would require new connections, hard work, and focus.

The same is now true at Sharp Reflections. We’ve stepped into a new chapter, but I am confident that with the backing of CMG, we’ll be able to reach even more ambitious goals than previously.

I’m especially grateful to Pramod Jain and CMG for their commitment to preserving the unique identity and culture of Sharp, as we prepare to raise the bar. We’ve always been a pioneering company, unafraid to set ambitious goals. Our team remains inquisitive and curious about our customers and their businesses, eager to help them achieve success. These deep and lasting relationships will continue to remain the foundation of our culture of innovation.

This year showcased those values in action, when it saw us completing our fifth Foundation Project and launching a groundbreaking suite of tools for 4D seismic analysis. By collaborating closely with project sponsors, we mapped workflows and prioritized their most critical needs. The result? Efficient solutions for repeatability QC, seismic data conditioning, and 4D amplitude interpretation and inversion—all leveraging our unique capabilities in multi-dimensional seismic analysis.

Additionally, our consulting team completed over two dozen reservoir characterization projects as we continued to build market traction for our processing-to-inversion workflows. These achievements highlight the strength of our team and our commitment to delivering innovative, impactful solutions.

Over the past month, I’ve had the pleasure of meeting new colleagues at CMG and Bluware and learning about their businesses. I’ve been impressed by their intelligence, engagement, and commitment. After a well-deserved December break, we’re eager to hit the ground running in 2025, collaborating on integrated seismic-to-simulation solutions.

As we prepare for the year ahead, I want to wish you all happy holidays and a fantastic start to the new year. A strong tailwind is blowing, and the sails are up! Let’s embrace the opportunities ahead with enthusiasm and determination.

Warm regards,
